Southport remains one of Britain’s most popular seaside resorts. With a stunning coastline and situated just north of Liverpool it receives thousands of visitors every year. When Sefton Council implemented a pedestrianisation scheme in Southport’s Town Centre, The Council opted for Via fingerposts to complement a bespoke monolith design. These provide location information and direction signs. One of the key criteria was to find a system, which was constructed using robust materials and would withstand vandalism, as this had been an issue in the past.
Via’s flexibility meant it could be customised to ensure a consistency of colours and materials across the sign scheme. The posts were manufactured in stainless steel, with matt black powder coated fingers, which were etched and in filled with white. The finials were customised featuring a stainless steel collar with a vitreous insert featuring the town’s emblem “Southport, England’s Classic Resort”.
